Observation end time: 14:00:00
Total observation time: 6 hours
Official Counter: Mac McAlpine
Observers: Ken Wootton, Su Ross-Redmond
Visitors:
None reported today.
Weather:
Lots of cloud cover around today with it finally starting to open up a bit
at the very end of the count. Winds were very light for the entire count
period, never exceeding 10 kph from the N and NNW. The high pressure centre
continued to dominate the region and temps ranged from 9C to 21C.
Raptor Observations:
A pretty typical flight today given the weather conditions and since we're
at the point in the fall migration where the bulk of the Broadwings have
gone through but prior to the push of other species in October. There was a
total of 241 raptors tallied for the day.
Non-raptor Observations:
No report provided today.
Predictions:
The forecast for Tuesday is light N to NW and then to SW winds and sunny
with a few clouds. I suspect it will be a fairly small flight for the day.
There might be a few Peregrines and other species that use the lift at the
cliff edge later in the day if the winds go around to the SW as forecast
(although there will be very light).
