Another "Sort-of" Update for the week ending on 2026.10.01 (season 1;
episode 35)
This summary comes to you once again from Duesseldorf Germany which will be
the base for the final week of our trip - visiting with our son and
exploring the area. No, we are not here for the Backstreet Boys' exclusive
European residency concerts.
I still do not have access to my web interface that allows me to quickly
summarize what is being seen, where. So this week's update is still
somewhat more sparse than usual.
The star bird bird in the area continues to be the Little Blue Heron at the
Winterset/Paine Pond in Kanata (and I selfishly hope that it sticks around
for just one more week).
I can see from the eBird alerts that there's an interesting collection of
late warblers, sparrows, and some shorebirds passing through the circle.
And, not surprisingly, we're starting to see more geese, scooters &
northern ducks.
I suggest turning your birding focus to harvested fields and as well as
lakes & rivers for the coming week(s).

Hopefully I've not missed too many.
As always, send questions, comments or photos to sightings@ofnc.ca. Your
feedback is appreciated.
Again, sorry for the technology failure. Hopefully I can resurrect my
connection for the next update. In the meantime, good birding. I'll be
home soon,
