Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end time: 13:00:00
Total observation time: 6 hours
Official Counter: Tom Bolohan
Observers: Ken Wootton, Su Ross-Redmond
Visitors:
A few visitors at the site today so glad to see there were a few birds
moving through. Thanks to Tom B, Su and Ken for doing the count today.
Weather:
Winds were light from the NE to start but eventually swung round to SE
which basically shut down the flight. Mainly sunny skies for most of the
morning before some cloud moved in by early afternoon. The temp started
much cooler at 5Cand then got to a high of 16C.
Raptor Observations:
Not a bad flight today with a total of 432 birds the bulk of which were TVs
(248). Lots of Bald Eagles (14) appeared to actually be on the move today
along with N Harriers (19), Sharpies (88) and Am Kestrels (43). Smaller
numbers of Cooper's Hawk (4), Redtail (15) and a lone Merlin.
Non-raptor Observations:
None reported today.
Predictions:
The forecast is for light to moderate SW winds for Sunday which could work
well to bring more falcons along the cliff edge including the possibility
of more Peregrines.
